At the end of UFC 291, Justin Gaethje won a huge fight. It was the biggest win of his career, and he won it in a very clear way. Gaethje gave Dustin Poirier a perfect head kick that knocked him out and gave him the BMF title belt.
Alex Pereira beat Jan Blachowicz by a split decision in the co-main event, which was a great start to his career as a light heavyweight. This could set him up for a shot at the promotion’s most mobile belt. Pereira now has an 8-2 record.
Derrick Lewis ended a losing streak of three fights with a resounding victory. He attacked Marcos Rogério de Lima with a flying knee to start the fight and never let up once his opponent was down. It was Lewis’s 14th knockout in UFC, which set a record. Lewis’s win came at a great time, since it was the last fight of his UFC deal.
Lewis said after the game, “I just said, ‘I’m going to throw some BS and see if it sticks.’ It did.
Bobby Green was on track to win by decision against Tony Ferguson, but in the last 10 seconds of the fight, he put Ferguson to sleep by pinning him. Green had not won in four fights before this one. Ferguson, on the other hand, lost his sixth straight fight.
In the first fight on the pay-per-view card, Kevin Holland beat Michael Chiesa with a D’arce choke in the first round. In 35 professional fights, this was Holland’s 25th win. After this third loss in a row, Chiesa’s record is now 18-7.
